GOOD NEWS!!
I’ve known about this since June 20th, and have told some people, but given that I start rehearsals on October 14th, I figure I'll announce it now!
DRUM ROLL…..🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
I am so happy to announce that I will be making my Guthrie Theater Debut in A Christmas Carol! It’s something I am still processing, even with rehearsals starting so soon, but it’s something I’m so excited for (and also nervous for, of course, but my excitement outweighs it). Working at the Guthrie Theater has been on my bucket list for a long time, for theaters I’ve wanted to perform at. It’s the center for theater performances in Minneapolis, not to mention it won the Tony Regional Theater Award in 1982. I’m going to be working with a great cast/crew, and I couldn’t be more grateful :)
I remember my first encounter with the Guthrie was during their 2017/2018 season. I saw Blithe Spirit, which was being performed on their McGuire Proscenium Stage. I was so immersed, with the set, the actors, the costumes, the lights, everything! It is also my favorite Noël Coward play, so I was looking forward to seeing it in general. I also saw The Bacchae in 2020, and oh. my. goodness. It shocked me (in a good way). I love Greek tragedies, and it was so fascinating watching the text come to life.
Watching the actors on that stage really affirmed my dream of becoming an actor, singer, and dancer. I wanted to get on that stage with them and recite the lines. I wanted to have the same groundedness that they had.
I remember signing up for an audition slot on June 16th for A Christmas Carol and miraculously finding a time, because they fill up so fast. It was my very first time auditioning for The Guthrie. The audition room was positive, and I enjoyed it so much. A few days later, I received my offer letter during my closing shift at work LOL
I had also gotten a rejection letter from another theater a few minutes before the offer letter. It goes to show that what is for you will be for you. I’m really going to be on the Wurtele Thrust Stage soon yall omg………
